The Story Behind The Art Dojo

The Story Behind The Art Dojo

The Art Dojo (艺术道場) was founded in March 2010 by 3 of the brightest people in Singapore, led by Dr. Tan Ching Yam, with the vision of sharing the fine art of finger painting, Chinese brush painting, and art therapy to great individuals throughout the world—like you.

The word “dojo” comprises of the 2 Chinese characters of “do (道)” and “jo (場)”, representing “the way” and “the place”. A “dojo” is the go-to place for training and building up of character; also closely related to a school (eg: “martial arts school”, “karate school, or “tae-kwon-do school”).

Arts too, requires developing a unique set of skills, mastering techniques, and the building up of a person’s character.

Hence the formation of The Art Dojo—to be “the way” and “the place” where you can start equipping yourself with the knowledge and essentials for you to get started in your journey with the arts.

It’s not all about painting pictures. What the students of The Art Dojo and you would benefit from is to start painting works of art that wows your audience, brings healing to the soul, and creating massive value in each masterpiece that your audience and you will enjoy.

Age is never a boundary when it comes to learning and mastering art. You too can begin your journey in creating beautiful finger painting art works, amazing Chinese brush painting, and discovering how art works as an effective healing tool with art therapy with The Art Dojo today.
