Art Therapy: Healing Arts
Can the arts be used as something greater than being an avenue where individuals like you can express your ideas from the mind into an art masterpiece?
Yes, and this is where art therapy (healing arts) comes into the bigger picture.
We’ve taken the arts to a whole new level by bringing in the psychological creative process that allows you to see huge improvements in your emotional well-being, and enhancing your quality of life with art therapy.
Read on more for the full story and see how the HEARTS and art therapy initiative have helped build up the confidence of their students lives, and how you too can benefit from the therapeutic healing process from each art therapy lesson.
The Healing Arts (HEARTS) Initiative
Hospitals and medicines can only do so much to keep diseases in check—there are many chronic diseases that we can’t cure.
Medicines are bitter, and not forgetting that the treatments feels just as bad as the diseases themselves; the road to recovery can be grueling and meaningless.
Recent research on the mind and body has demonstrated the powerful role of a person’s mind, along with the beauty of the arts, in the healing process.
Arts help in the creation of hospitals’ environments that are more conducive to healing. We’ve found that beauty is a powerful regenerative. Similar to how sugar helps the body take in medicine easier, the beauty and the arts makes an individual feel hopeful and whole.
Together with Alexandra Hospital and Dr. Tan Ching Yam (PhD), the Healing Arts (HEARTS) initiative was founded, and with the combination of Art Intervention and Music Therapy, they have made successful progressions in an attempt to humanize the hospital environment and enhancing the sense of well being for the patients.
