HOW TO PAINT A PEACOCK ?
About Peacock
It is an auspicious occasion when a peacock spreads its feathers! Hence its title “Peacock receiving the new year with ‘open arms’ . Peacock belongs to the big bird category. It is the most beautiful of birds among birds. Its fan-shape tail is the main attraction. Motifs on the tail is complicated to look at but if we start with simple steps in drawing then we can achieve a beautiful final result.
How to paint it?
The whole bird consists of the head (eye, beak and crown), body (including trunk, wing and tail) and legs (with joints).
No matter how complicated the subject is, we can simplify the lines on the fan-like tail. In this way, we will be able to master the technique. They are just a repetition after that. It does exact a lot of patience and perseverance on our part, but that is a kind of enjoyment if we concentrate.
As in all our projects, we must look at the subject as a whole otherwise everything will turn out lopsided!
Draw the body, the fan shape tail, legs in this order. Fill up details after you have done that step.
Don’t forget the crown (3 strokes) should not be crossed. We have to avoid obvious ‘crossing’ in Chinese art.
Another thing to note is the feet. Observe the joints. They must appear to stand on the floor. Most of us forgot about the joints of the legs.
